Azerbaijan Army holds Judo, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling championships
Pursuant to the training plan for 2026, the opening ceremony of the Judo, Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling championships was held across the Azerbaijan Army, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
The ceremonies commenced with a tribute to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed under the accompaniment of a military band.
After the verification of the composition of the participating teams, the athletes were informed about the purpose of the competition and safety rules. The chief judges who will conduct all three competitions were also introduced.
On the first day of the competition, after the weight categories of the athletes were checked, individual and team matches started.
A total of 297 athletes from 11 teams in 10 weight categories in each sport are participating in the competitions.
