Qarabag FC midfielder Julio Romao spoke very positively about his life in Azerbaijan, noting that the country surpasses many European states in this regard, Report informs.
The footballer was speaking in an interview with Brazilian publication Globo.
"Azerbaijan is better than many European countries. There's a high level of security here, and I have nothing to complain about," said the 26-year-old footballer. Romao shared his impressions about staying in Baku: "I had doubts before arriving, but after seeing the city, I was charmed. There are many interesting places here, my family is also here, and we all like everything."
Speaking about Qarabag's performance in the UEFA Europa League last season, Romao noted that the team played two excellent matches (in the playoffs) against Bayer 04, and after that, people started looking at Qarabag differently. The footballer also talked about his development as a defensive midfielder.
"In my youth, I played more with the ball, wasn't focused on defense. But in Portugal, I started playing deeper, which helps me a lot at Qarabag," the player noted. Romao emphasized that despite Qarabag's dominance in the national championship, matches are difficult: "Opponents prepare specially against us. There are very tough games because opponents have studied us well."
