18-year-old Indian prodigy GM Gukesh Dommaraju has become the 18th undisputed world champion after Chinese GM Ding Liren (32) collapsed in game 14 of the 2024 FIDE World Championship. According to the Chess.com, Gukesh won 7.5-6.5 after Ding seemed to have a risk-free chance to push for a win but instead liquidated into a pawn-down endgame. It should have been drawn, but Ding blundered as the pressure grew.
