Azerbaijani chess players will demonstrate their skills at the European Individual Chess Championship 2024 set to be held in Petrovac, Montenegro.
A total of 22 chess players are gearing to represent the country in the competition, which will run between November 7-20.
The Swiss-system championship will be played in 11 rounds, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.
The European Individual Chess Championship 2024 is a qualifying event for the FIDE World Cup 2025. According to the FIDE regulations for World Cup and the ECU Board decision, 20 players will qualify.
The total prize fund of the event is 100.000 euros, with 20.000 EUR reserved for the winner of the Championship. Along with the prizes for the 23-best-ranked players, the organisers provided special prizes for six best-ranked female players, three best-ranked junior U18 players, and three best-ranked senior 50+ players.
Chess players from a total of 42 countries will be up in action in the championship.
