Carlos Sainz wins Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix

Carlos Sainz won the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris and teammate Charles Leclerc, according to Anadolu Agency.

Sainz, 30, won the 71-lap race with a time of one hour, 40 minutes and 55 seconds on the 4.30-kilometer (2.67-mile) track. It was the fourth win of his career and the second of the season for Sainz.

Norris, 24, finished second while Leclerc, 27, came in third at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Max Verstappen has won seven races while Norris and Leclerc have claimed races three times. Lewis Hamilton, Sainz and Oscar Piastri have clinched two races.

George Russell was on the top of the podium once.

Round 21 of the 2024 season will be held at Brazil's Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace on Nov. 3.
