FIDE spotlights Azerbaijan`s GM Nijat Abasov for remarkable achievements

 

 

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has published an article highlighting the exceptional accomplishments of Azerbaijani grandmaster Nijat Abasov.

 

The piece highlights Abasov`s impressive victories against top players, including Makoto Rodwell (Zimbabwe), Laurent Fressinet (France), Anish Giri (the Netherlands), Peter Svidler (Russia), Salem Saleh (the UAE) and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi (India).

 

The article emphasizes that, following Magnus Carlsen`s withdrawal from the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2024, Nijat Abasov (2641) secures the spot as the next highest finisher in the 2023 FIDE World Cup), ranking fourth in the tournament final standings.
