Saudi Sports Minister, President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal on Tuesday chaired the 12th ISSF General Assembly meeting in Riyadh, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Prince Abdulaziz extended his appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the constant support they give to ISSF, which, he said, reflects their keenness to encourage the youth and athletes in Islamic countries.

He also offered condolences and sympathy to the Palestinian people, who are going through grave circumstances and continue to witness the destruction of infrastructure and properties, adding that sports facilities and youth centres are destroyed as well, which hampers the progress of Palestinian sports.

He stressed that ISSF embodies the concept of "sports solidarity" among member countries, and that the new ISSF strategy will contribute to the advancement of sports in member countries and help the youths to improve their capabilities and showcase their talents on various platforms.

ISSF General Assembly announced the formation of an internal committee to follow up on events and developments related to sports in Palestine, and to submit periodic reports and recommendations on practical steps to support sports there.

It also approved the extension of the term of the current ISSF Executive Board until after the conclusion of the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2025.
