Head of the Milli Majlis Azerbaijan-Iraq Working Group for inter-parliamentary relations Ilham Mammadov and MP Amina Aghazade attended a meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s (APA) Standing Committee on Political Affairs held in the Republic of Iraq on November 9-10.

The meeting saw discussions on international policy and regional security issues.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the organization Amina Aghazade said that Azerbaijan has officially submitted its candidacy for the chairmanship of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly for 2024-2025 in order to contribute to the development of solidarity, cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy in the Asian region. She expressed her hope that the APA members would support Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani MP Amina Aghazade also expressed deep concern about the recent developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone, and called for the immediate easing of tensions and the cessation of all military operations.
