The city of Paris paid a massive tribute to music icon David Bowie as they named a new street after the legendary singer to commemorate what would've been his 77th birthday, according to Mirror.

On Monday morning fans of the influential singer lined the streets in France as they celebrated the inauguration of the landmark with a lively concert and beautiful exhibit dedicated to the beloved artist filled with photos and colourful flowers. Jerome Coumet, the mayor of the 13th arrondissement, first announced the decision to immortalize the late singer back in 2020 to honour Bowie's long-lasting impact on music, fashion, and culture in the city.

Bowie fans raved as they welcomed the brand new street dedicated to the singer that lies between the Jardin des Plantes botanical gardens and the National Library. The street sits between two modern office buildings as well as the headquarters of famous news outlets Le Monde and L'Obs.

The touching tribute to Bowie comes as the star tragically passed away back in 2016 after a private battle with liver cancer which he was diagnosed with 18 months prior. Fans were devastated when the news of Bowie's death broke as he passed two days after the release of his 26th and last studio album Blackstar as well as his 69th birthday. Ahead of his death, Bowie made a powerful impact on millions of fans with his music continuing to change lives today.

Bowie is remembered as an iconic leading figure in the music industry and one of the most influential rockstars of the 20th century. During his life, Bowie made jaw-dropping 100 million record sales globally making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Bowie was conducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1996 and was often coined the "chameleon of rock" due to his incredible ability to reinvent himself. Some of Bowie's most famous chart-topping hits include Kooks, Space Oddity, Let's Dance, Starman, Modern Love, Rebel Rebel, among many others.
