Bloomberg: US and allies held secret meeting with Ukraine on peace plan

The G7 and some countries of the “global South” held a secret meeting in Riyadh with the Ukrainian side to discuss the possibility of peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, Report informs referring to Bloomberg citing sources.

The meeting took place on December 16. Saudi Arabia, India and Türkiye took part in it. The reason for the secrecy was to make the negotiating countries feel more comfortable.

It is noted that the narrow format of the negotiations allowed for a more free and frank discussion of the Ukrainian peace formula, as well as the principles of potential interaction with Russia in the future.

Ukraine and the G7 have planned to hold a broader meeting next week in Switzerland, ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Earlier today, Ukrainian media reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may visit Switzerland next week. His visit may last at least two days.

Sources also note that Zelenskyy wants to personally speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which will be held from January 15 to 19.
