Almost all of Lower Saxony flooded due to rising river levels

Minister of Internal Affairs of Lower Saxony in Germany, Daniela Behrens, said that almost the entire federal state is under water, Report informs via German media.

 

Behrens also criticized those who steal sandbags used to strengthen the dam. "If the dam is not reinforced, there is no need to put a sandbag in front of the house," she said.

 

Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the federal state of Lower Saxony, located in the north-west of Germany, used about 100,000 workers of various services to combat floods.

 

The DPA writes that, according to local authorities, the water level in many rivers in Lower Saxony has exceeded the maximum level, especially in the southern part of the state.

 

The Celle district administration decided to temporarily cut off power supply for safety reasons after the water level in some streets reached 40-50 cm.
